The Baku Flame Towers is a luxury hotel development that includes the Fairmont Baku, an Office Tower and a Residential Tower. The Spa is located in the Fairmont Hotel. As the largest city and port of Azerbaijan, it also boasts a prime location on the Absheron Peninsula. The iconic Flame Towers complex, opened in 2013, brings 318 superbly appointed guest rooms, and 19 serviced apartments. The new build, ground-up hotel started in early 2008. The owner is DIA Holdings of Turkey. A project inspired by ancient traditions where the three glass façade towers represents the eternal flames of the region, a balance between fire and water while the towers reflect the Caspian Sea. The spa design remains in tune with the rest of the hotel: contemporary yet comfortable and sophisticated for the international traveller. The colour schemes evolve around warm amber tones inspired by the flame; the red accent runs throughout the project as a signature detail. The design intention for the 2 levels was to have an active level, catering to physical activities and the indoor pool, and a passive level, which included the Spa. The Spa catered to both men and women with multiple types of treatment rooms, a traditional Turkish Hammam, and an adjacent heated lounge with numerous relaxation experiences. During the planning phase we took advantage of the spectacular views of the city, enhancing the journey throughout the Spa. Our challenge was to fit the overall program into the building footprint, which has pie shaped bays within the imposing structural system.
