Liu Zongyuan Beijing Photography Studio
Beijing Shi, China
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
The photography studio in Beijing, China, covers an area of about 1000m2. The main materials used in the design include marble, latex paint, wood veneer, iron plate, cement self-levelling. The building was originally an old warehouse in the 1960s. Through the adjustment of the nature of the space, it has been transformed from its original functionality to serve the needs of a studio with photography work, creating a composite space to integrate work with space for an art gallery and other activities.
By restoring, designing and decorating the walls of the old building, the original aesthetic feeling of the original features can be reproduced, and traces of the original history and years of the original cement wall can be preserved. Through the transformation of the building from the inside to the outside, fully considering the relationship between the spatial function, structure and the material, the final design forms a environment with unique temperament.
