Fogarty Finger
New Heights Youth Inc. Center
New York, United States of America
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Fogarty Finger designed the Brooklyn, NY headquarters for New Heights Youth Inc., a non-profit sports-based youth development organization in New York City. The project involved developing the interiors, signage, branding elements, and art coordination behind the organization’s new home in the Major R. Owens Health & Wellness Community Center – previously known as the Bedford Union Armory.
Their design process involved engaging local makers and artists to bring the 6,250 square foot space to life and honor Brooklyn’s historic Crown Heights neighborhood and community. Finishing touches were created to turn the 114-year-old armory into a welcoming community center with basketball courts, after-school classrooms and offices, allowing an expansion of programming for thousands of underserved youth and families. The bold designs are intended to “Inspire Ascension”; as soon as student-athletes enter, the goal is for them to feel empowered and inspired to be their best selves in a supportive and vibrant environment.
