Angel O'Donnell
A Very British Boutique Home
London, United Kingdom
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Angel O’Donnell were tasked with creating a quintessentially British Pied-à-terre, inspired by the playfully print-filled and colour-rich boutique hotels in the Capital.
Excited by such a gem of a brief, they set to work producing a series of lively interiors filled with expressive prints, richly pigmented hues and beautiful detailing.
The bedrooms have been treated to Rococo-inspired headboards, murals of far-flung temples, singing cuckoo clocks and planetary mobiles. And in the living room, plump armchairs, richly embroidered curtains, densely textured wallpaper, hand-spun wool rugs, and large fringed cushions provide irresistible comfort.
Art, too, plays an integral role in their designs. Each floor is filled with notable works of art, ranging from abstract collages to thickly impastoed acrylics. Original pieces include the rising star of figurative painting, Jack Penny; veteran landscape artist, Richard Ballinger; pioneers of the British abstract movement, Sandra Blow and Terry Frost; and neo-pop art legend, Damien Hirst.
