The Residence, Shanghai

Harrods Interior Design was commissioned to design and specify the interior architecture, FF&E and accessories for The Residence, Shanghai – a premium private shopping retail experience. The whole project was routed in feng shui and saw feng shui experts consult on every element of the design – with this in mind a lot of edges were rounded and smoothed and placement of art deco mirrors were carefully considered, especially in powder rooms. The layout of The Residence was meticulously designed to maximise sociability, as well as create pods for guests to luxuriate and relax. Some auspicious design features include octagonal chairs, alluding to the Chinese lucky number 8, as well as a Ginko leaf designed partition screen, which retracts to reveal a large TV screen to display fashion runway shows.
