Eve Pollard OBE is a woman who has broken through the glass ceiling in the creative industry of journalism. An example of what women can do in the modern world, she, and others like her, over recent years, have earned the right for woman to be treated equally in the workplace.
Eve Pollard began her career in media at the publishers of Honey Magazine. Five years after joining Honey Magazine she was made fashion editor of the Daily Mirror. She was also features Editor of TV am and launch Editor-in-chief of Elle USA in New York.
Eve found a position for her journalistic talent and these combined skills led her to a new job as Women’s editor of the Observer magazine.
While at the Observer Eve enabled Delia Smith to write her first book and wrote her own best-selling biography of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She was the second female editor, in modern times, of a national newspaper in the UK, editing the Sunday Mirror from 1987 to 1991 and the Sunday Express from 1991 to 1994.
Throughout this time Eve was regularly appearing on Television and Radio. She covered Royal Ascot for twenty-three years. She also covered the Royal weddings of Princess Anne, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Prince Andrew and The Duchess of York, Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, and of course Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge.
Today, as a celebrated journalist and broadcaster on TV and radio and a regular contributor to BBC News, ITN, SKY, NBC and ABC, she is a trailblazer for women achieved her inspirational position as a talented journalist by sheer hard work and tenacity through an era when equal opportunity was a statement yet to be uttered.
