Dawson Design Associates was hired to reposition a well-known hotel in Newport Rhode Island so that it could compete as an upper luxury resort in this highly competitive market. Built in 1969 as a Hyatt Regency on Goat Island on the site of a former US Navy Torpedo factory, the 10-acre resort is comprised of three separate buildings and features 257 suites and guestrooms. Our mission was to create an original and distinctive resort that would compete with all the luxury coastal hotels in New England.
