Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Located in Malaysian Grand Bazaar, BBCC, the Food Empire - Sense of Malaysia food court is spread across 15,000 sq ft. Designed by Christopher Tan Design, the overall concept conveys Malaysia’s cultural diversity in a contemporary style. The entrance features a row of timber profiles reminiscent of traditional Malay rooflines. Large-mounted art posters depict collages of stylised cultural motifs. Bamboo lanterns are overlaid with traditional Borneo motifs, while large lanterns combine elements from Malaysia’s three primary races. The designers used parametric design to clad the columns to resemble tree trunks, signifying gathering under them as a united nation.
