Chester
Rice & Rice Fine Furniture
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
The Chester combines luxury with a grounding sense of nature. Like marble, wood has truly unique markings. These markings tell the story of the tree they have been cut from. It is the story of seasons changing, storms and other events in the lifetime of the tree. The Chester is a celebration of the natural beauty of the material, combined with a unique design taking references from architecture and finished to the highest levels of craftsmanship.
The tabletop features book-matched American walnut, where the distinct markings of the wood seem to be mirrored along the centre line of the table. Book-matching the finest woods has traditionally been reserved for high-quality antiques often in form of veneer. For the Chester solid American walnut wood, also referred to as black walnut, is used in a process requiring high levels of craftsmanship and passion. The high-gloss finish enhances the beauty of the wood and creates a luxurious look. The hand-sculpted table legs carry the tabletop in a sophisticated manner and are joined through an orbital shape, creating the table foot. All parts of this table are interconnected.
In a hospitality setting the Chester welcomes guests with a design that is creating a refined lightness and grounding calmness at the same time. The rich and elegant look of the natural material, American walnut hardwood, gives a sense of home, of a family heirloom piece that has been built to last.
