PopSchema
Global Upholstery Solutions
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
PopSchema is a sustainable, remanufacturable, reconfigurable headboard and divan design that not only utilises sustainable materials, it also can cope with the demands of style and colour scheme changes.
PopSchema has two parts to the system – the PopGrid and the PopPanels. The PopGrid is a series of headboard and/or divans in standard sizes for Single, Double, King and SuperKing sizes. The headboard PopGrid can be mounted using direct fix, button fix, or split battens. PopPanels are manufactured in 7 different sizes.
As covers are made from EcoTwill fabric, the returned covers will be recycled. EcoTwill is made from recycled plastic bottles, thus removing waste from the environment. Cushioning is made from Cocolok, a natural product made from coconut husk, natural latex and with natural additives for fire retardancy. Cocolok is fully biodegradeable, hypo-allergenic and dust-mite resistant and an excellent material for acoustic and thermal insulation. To enable replacement of the top cover, the PopPanel is covered in a cotton interliner.
PopPanels can be selected in infinite configurations as all have a common mounting method. The PopPanels can be replaced or repaired individually, or can have new covers fitted to change colour without having to return the whole panel. Additionally, the PopPanels can be reconfigured easily to create a new design, without having to replace any of the parts.
As all the parts of PopSchema are demountable – each piece can be disassembled – they can be removed, relocated and reused.
PopSchema uses sustainable materials in its manufacture and can be reused over and over again even when styles and tastes change giving a truly sustainable option for Interior Designers.
