Raven and Lack
Artist Collection Apartment
London, United Kingdom
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Raven & Lack worked closely with the client to understand the intricacies of the luxury market and have executed an exceptional interior tailored to the unique buyer profile of the new arts precinct of Southwark.
The overarching concept stemmed from a reconnaissance into the ideals of modern British design; drawing inspiration from the rectilinear geometry of the distinctively British tartan pattern, re-imagined from the striking and prominent modernist glazing breakup of the iconic curtain wall of the building.
Tartans are quintessentially British, both sophisticated and rebellious in nature. From Vivienne Westwood’s exploded tartan textiles realised as a platinum etched bespoke wall finish and panelling details, to a haute couture Alexander McQueen gown inspiring the abstracted tartan motif in a bespoke rug. A celebration of the ‘Best of British’ artisans and craftsmen, with the majority of feature items developed specifically for the project and manufactured in Great Britain.
