Paddington™️ Cafe

Avocado Sweets was commissioned to create a very rare sort of contemporary café for the Paddington Bear brand in Paddington Station. The first of its kind, the design process was driven by Paddington’s core characteristics of kindness, care and humour alongside his rich heritage, to ensure broad appeal.

The unique space embodies Paddington’s playful irreverence and wholesome integrity. His heritage is encapsulated in colour scheme, plants and natural materials. Moments of delight are found in on-brand bespoke detailing and references to Paddington’s visual interpretation over the years – from a cheeky graffiti version of the original Peggy Fortnum illustration to a life-size statue from the recent films.

Based in a listed building within Paddington Station, the team overcame the challenges of strict approval processes, criteria for delivery sizes, low ceiling heights and a lack of natural light.

The result? A one-of-a-kind space for a national treasure.
