Tinker imagineers
Exhibition North & South
Utrecht, Netherlands The
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Rare masterpieces from the High Middle Ages were brought together from Norway and Spain for the North & South exhibition at Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht, The Netherlands. A unique combination, this type of art has been all but lost. Visitors will discover remarkable similarities in the visual language used in the north and south of Europe as travel was quite common at the time.
Tinker designed a voyage of discovery to the origins of these pieces, starting from the mysterious, 800-year-old statue of the Virgin Mary. It takes visitors through five distinctive rooms, each with a different colour scheme and atmosphere, and containing a piece of the puzzle that will help them unravel the mystery of this type of art.
The grand finale is a 4D-experience of the medieval altar. Through projections, art, music, and scent, visitors get to experience how medieval people may have experienced the celebration of Mass.
