Wood End House

Dunning & Everard was commissioned to restore and refurbish Wood End House, a family home with history.  Originally built in the 1770s with later additions during the Georgian and Regency periods. By the 1853 it was substantially expanded, home to a local magistrate, which explains the cells evident in the cellar.

The brief was to incorporate the client’s love of antique Georgian furniture and modern art. There had to be a working study, plus space for three teenage sons. Particular attention was given to the extremely rare papier-mâché ceilings. D&E designed appropriately for each different period of the house for example they chose 1920’s sanitary ware and cabinetry in the Arts and Crafts master bathroom and kitchen. They found early Georgian lights (originally candle lit) which worked well in the Gothic section and the Regency scheme was chosen for its lightness and ability to work with the period furniture.
