Ottawa, Canada
Vancouver, Canada
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
Known as Ottawa’s Castle, Fairmont Château Laurier’s historical presence towers over the Canadian city. CHIL Interior Design was commissioned to bring the historic Hays Suite into the new century. The hotel and suite were named after visionaries Sir Wilfrid Laurier and Charles Melville Hays, the Canadian Prime Minister and the commissioner of the hotel, respectively. The client wants CHIL Interior Design to create a design that is as bold and unforgettable as the icons themselves. Special attention was necessary to respect the original the early 20th century historical details of the hotel, while delicately positioning this suite in a more forward looking aesthetic. Of the highest importance, the new interior renovation, celebrates the unique character of this local landmark while, in the same breath, accentuates the beautiful and luxurious details that portrays “Canada’s tradition of grandeur”.
