Residence No 8.

To accomodate the needs of a busy family, as well as facilitate large social gatherings, the clients requested a bold design that would sit centre stage to the volume of the living zone and would also encompass a ‘modern wow-factor’.

The design by Detail by Davinia Sutton was formed around the concept of a ‘front and rear kitchen’. A central box form of two-toned dark stained veneered joinery links the two zones and is intercepted with a layered island in the foreground of the space. Intentional details such as mitered corners, layering of form, contrast of scale, and textures from the veneer and the liquid metal to the back lit stone, helps to accentuate the modern aesthetic of the kitchen, whilst reinforcing a solid form, reflective of the overall feel of the architecture.
