Pippa Paton Design
Oxfordshire Village House Kitchen
Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
By reconfiguring the space to allow formation of a dark-stained oak-clad walk-in-pantry, introducing a multitude of bespoke storage and display areas for vintage pieces and selection of luxurious materials, Pippa Paton Design has reinvented the family kitchen of two professional chefs as a highly functional yet luxurious space.
An impressive seven-metre island with oversized, industrial hinges and lay-on bronze-wrapped doors and concrete-coloured worktop sits at the centre, giving an industrial loft-like feel with an American engineering aesthetic. The island together with run of floor-to-ceiling dark oak-clad joinery, provides multiple prep and cooking stations and capacious storage.
A breakfast bar seating six and adjacent table and banquette provide areas for work and casual dining, whilst adjacent larger dining and relaxed sitting areas with floor-to-ceiling glazing connect seamlessly to the terraces beyond. An Aga provides additional cooking facilities whilst warming a space specifically designed for two miniature dogs to sleep.
