What is it like to be young and restless in Europe? Tinker imagineers from The Netherlands made an exciting exhibition that immerses visitors in the history of European youth culture. Four generations grew up at crucial points. For each generation, a graphic design was created, based on their experiences and media use. These form the leitmotiv in this journey through time. An innovative mix of objects, multimedia, and personal stories characterise the exhibition. Interactivity is an important aspect. Visitors go back in time by writing love letters at the milk bar from the 1940s or putting records on the jukebox. They can dress up as 1960s hippies. In the 1980s they create protest buttons themselves, while MTV video clips play. At the end, visitors leave their reactions and own memories into an interactive installation. These are projected on preserved jars to create a collective memory of youth in Europe.
