Runze Palace Villa

The design concept for the Beijing Runze Palace introduces the spatial concept of ‘le grand château extraordinaire’ with Empire-style vertical wall panelling and jamb details. The result is a vast architectural structure which displays elements of magnificent grandeur and recalls the power and glory of the Empire. Decoratively, Beijing Runze Palace features an 18th-century social backdrop, when Oriental culture began to influence the Western world. The design is based on a classical French look, integrating exquisite Oriental interior decorative art and architectural interior elements. The space features echoes of the traditional local craft known as Beijing and Cao Kite style, world heritage Tibetan Buddhism embroidery, aesthetically rich porcelain, and gold Chinese painting on black-lacquered screen panels. Together with French Rococo trims, these details illustrate the characteristics of the eighteenth-century classical French décor, which celebrated art and luxury.
