The Ned Doha
Doha, Qatar
All project descriptions are provided by SBID Awards entrants.
The Ned Doha, located in the former Ministry of Interior building in Qatar’s capital, underwent a transformative renovation by architect David Chipperfield, preserving its history while adding glamour. Architect Alexander Schwarz aimed to protect the 1970s brutalist building and promote sustainability. With interiors by Soho House Design, The Ned Doha combines London’s flagship elements with local influences. Key changes include an additional floor, a new base, and a horizontal canopy for sun protection and added elegance. The building’s plinth was redesigned to create an elevated wraparound terrace, offering both security and accessibility, establishing a new level zero for the property.
