Inspired by Bangkok’s famous bustling city streets and floating water markets, JMDA designed Thaikhun Street Bar to bring the same atmosphere to life in Liverpool. Externally, the use of colourful loose furniture, festoon lighting & an eye-catching new signage scheme captured the vibrancy of Liverpool’s city centre and creates a lasting impression to passers-by. The solution to the high ceilings was to suspend various bric-a-brac items, bold authentic Thai signage and warm pendant lighting from the ceiling to create the effect of a Bangkok street between the concrete columns. The feature bamboo canopy/shipping container bar, market-style booth seating and mixed-height furniture created an inviting flexible bar space. The mezzanine was utilised to create a private hire venue. Suitable for parties, events and party games, it also features a floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the ground floor, providing a unique view of the integrated elements of Thai culture.
